Meet Anna Collar

Anna lives in Lyndhurst and teaches Archaeology at the University of Southampton. Anna grew up in Cambridge and has lived in the USA, Türkiye, and Denmark. Her grandparents were born in Portsmouth and spent most of their lives on the South Coast, so this part of the world has always felt like home. She loves its beauty, its people, and its strong sense of community — and she wants to make sure it stays a great place to live for generations to come. She’s spent her career studying how people build strong communities — and wants to use that knowledge to shape a fairer, greener future here in Hampshire. Raised by a conservation scientist, she knows that protecting nature also means protecting our families, our health, and our future. Anna joined the Green Party in 2021 and stood for Parliament in New Forest West in 2024. She isn’t a career politician — she’s someone who listens, brings people together, and works hard to find practical, fair solutions. Anna believes politics should be about hope, honesty, and care for others. She stands for real change — led by values, not headlines.

Join Our journey

The Southern Green Powerhouse

Our beautiful region is uniquely placed to take advantage of the Green Economic Revolution. The age of fossil fuels is over. We are ready to lead the world in delivering a Green future. We have 4 universities, 3 ports, a thriving manufacturing industry, a skilled and willing workforce and a history of innovation. As mayor, Anna will work with multiple sectors – maritime, energy, agriculture and more. She will position the region as the UK hub for Green Innovation. She will attract sustainable investment from across the globe. She will create new future-proofed jobs combined with upskilling and training opportunities. This means we can lead the world in Green technology to warm our homes, clean our rivers, Green our fuels and lower energy bills for all.

Integrated and Cheap Transport

The roads of Hampshire are excellent – but they are filled with traffic. Our buses don’t run at the right times or never arrive. Services are cut because they are not profitable. The car ferry to the Isle of Wight literally costs more than a return flight to Fuerteventura. As mayor Anna will implement an integrated transport system across the region. She will reduce fares so people can get to and from work cheaply and at sensible times. She will introduce new bus routes that actually serve the people that use them. She will invest in safe cycle routes, new railway lines and park and ride schemes. All of these investments will not only keep the air in our town centres clean, but will also allow all residents to spend time in our incredible natural environment.

Homes and Community

We are in a housing crisis. Everyone says it: but building endless identikit executive homes nobody can afford on greenfields is not the answer. We all deserve a house we can call home. We all deserve a safe, warm, friendly neighbourhood that is close to amenities that serve us. As mayor, Anna will invest in high streets and rural communities to ensure everyone has access to affordable food from local shops. She will ensure new developments are properly integrated into the local area. She will ensure bus services, GP surgeries, dentists, schools and childcare provision are integral parts of those developments – not just added extras. She will warm homes and lower bills by investing in insulation and low-energy heating and power solutions.
